People in urban areas affected

Letters

WITH the Covid-19 crisis introducing the new normal, it is quite adaptable for some whereas it’s unfavourable and severe for others.
People living in the villages are isolated and quite okay with the Covid-19 nightmare.
But for people in the cities, especially non-sector participants are left financially handicapped and marooned from this trauma.
The government has been working around the clock to keep ashore our economy by introducing the stimulus package.
But it has not quite compensated for the effects created by the state of emergency to simple people and students in institutions around the country.
Most, if not all the students in the University of Papua New Guinea and other institutions come from families who rely on the informal sector thus the current financial crisis has had a spiral effect on them. MPs should step in and assist students as they are going through this tough time.
It’s good to see the MP for Gazelle and Western working hand in hand with their students at the University of PNG.
The university has resumed and due to the new introduced blended learning system, students need more financial support.
I appeal to all MPs to assist their students.
