THE recent death of a senior educationist in Morobe from diabetes has raised concerns on Angau Memorial Hospital’s capability to treat diabetic patients.
The concern was raised by Mary Aisi, whose husband Gesengsu Aisi died last Wednesday (Feb 5) at Angau after being treated for stage 3 diabetes.
Gesengsu was a secondary school inspector and was recently appointed provincial programme adviser for Morobe.
Mary claimed doctors could not save her husband’s life because the hospital allegedly lacked capacity to deal with patients with late stage diabetes.

  • I do not know what stage 3 diabetes is but stage 3 kidney failure from diabetes can be treated and death prevented with very limited capacity. All the hospital needs is a good doctor. Don’t tell me the doctors lacked capacity to deal with something a bit more than malaria and TB.
