Petition to investigate Tkatchenko

PRIME Minister James Marape says no leader is immune from prosecution after receiving a petition from the PNG Trade Union Congress yesterday.
PNG Anti-Corruption for Change president Dilu Okuk when presenting the petition said they wanted former Foreign Affairs Minister Justin Tkatchenko and his daughter Savanah to be investigated.
“Our petition is to investigate the citizenships of Justin Tkatchenko and his daughter,” he said.
Okuk also asked the Prime Minister to investigate the use of public funds expended as the people were
“Investigate the use of public funds, there is no political intent here, we have concerns to raise,” he said.
“People are getting sick and tired of tax payer’s money being misused.
“It’s not just about Justin Tkatchenko, it’s about all public funds, leaders must respect the office and not abuse it like a private business.
“Also, investigate the Apec (report), it needs to be publicised, along with funds used in the whole Maseratis (vehicles) blunder.
“This guy (Tkatchenko) continues to put shame on Papua New Guinea.
“We will be petitioning him not to enter the Parliament House in the next sitting.”
Marape, when receiving the petition, acknowledged the peaceful and civil manner that the different sectors of the community showed in voicing their concern.
Marape went to the Trade Union Office yesterday to receive the petition saying: “People have a right to express concerns.
“We will have time to process this (petition), nobody will run away.
“Our people have every right to raise concerns if they feel the leadership code or our laws have been breached.
“The concerns raised will be processed and will bring back answers on issues raised.
“The Ombudsman Commission has created a file on this matter.”
