Petrol price decreases, kerosene, diesel rise

 THE price for petrol has decreased while the prices for diesel and kerosene have increased this month,the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission said yesterday.

Petrol price has decreased by 11 toea per litre to K2.51 from K2.63 last month.

Diesel increased by 5 toea per litre to K1.83 from K1.78.

Kerosene went up by 7toea per litre to K1.79 from K1.72 last month.

ICCC chief executive officer Paulus Ain said during February the import parity prices for petrol decreased while the IPP for diesel and kerosene had increased.

Ain said the difference in the direction of price movements for the three products is attributed to the cost of crude oil and the increased demand for diesel and kerosene in the Asia-Pacific region.

He said there was also a further decrease in the international shipping rate during that period.
