Pharmacy clinics will still operate, says Wong

MINISTER for Health and HIV/AIDS Jelta Wong says the Government will ensure that the City Pharmacy Ltd (CPL) clinics will continue to operate.
He was responding to a circular from the Health Department directing retail pharmacy outlets to close down clinics or nurse stations operating within their premises.
“We are aware of the closure of the CPL clinics and will ensure this situation is resolved promptly,” he said.
“My office is working with the Health secretary and the medical board for a rapid resolution.
“I want these clinics to be open again as soon as possible so they can continue to provide services to our people.
“Our Government is committed to ongoing public-private sector co-operation that is vital for the ongoing delivery of healthcare services in our country.”
According to the founder of the CPL Group Sir Mahesh Patel, they operated 27 nurse stations around the country, employing 32 nurses.
He said the nurse stations, from January to Dec 13 this year alone, had attended to 192,000 patients of which 11 per cent were referred and 89 per cent treated and discharged.
