Philip Aravure beat Kila Kila in grand final curtain raiser

PHILIP Aravure Primary School beat Kila Kila Secondary School 12-0 in the curtain raiser to Digicel Cup grand final in Port Moresby on Sunday.
The Under-18 fixture at the Sir John Guise Stadium saw Aravure fullback Kennen Laee cross for the first try in the third minute with halfback Sine Kaupa converting for a 6-0 lead which they held at halftime.
In the second half, Aravure lock Hamilton Toropo scored his side’s second four-pointer late in the half with Kaupa slotting the extras for a 12-0 win. Kaupa claimed man-of-the-match honours. The man-of-the-match award was sponsored by The Fulltime Reserve, which is a weekly column by the PNG Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka.
The Fulltime Reserve started with the award presentations this weekend and will continue till the end of the short season an official said.
“It’s really encouraging and motivating that we have this awards given right after the games to the players,” National Schools Rugby League president Arnold Gende said.
