Plans for feed production

NATIONAL Fisheries Authority (NFA) managing director John Kasu says they plan to develop fish feed in the country.
Kasu said the price for fish feed was expensive as it was imported.
He said fish farming was growing in the country and the NFA would try to help the farmers with resources to support their projects.
“One of the challenge that we currently have is with feed because the current feed is very expensive,” he said.
“Currently NFA buys the feed and sells them at a subsidised costs which includes freight.
“We have this arrangement but we are looking at producing our own feed in the country because we have a lot of farmers.”
