Plans for ICT incubation centre

AUTHORITIES in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector must work closely with those in the small-to-medium enterprise sector, and the business council to establish an ICT incubation centre, an official says.
Information and Communication Technology Minister Timothy Masiu said this after presentations and interactions noted during the national information and communication technology summit last week, from the ICT SMEs and entrepreneurs, for change.
“We know that SMEs have huge potential to bring about economic prosperity for PNG,” he said.
“As we face these challenging economic times, it is incumbent on us as government to take decisive efforts to empower ICT SMEs as they go through the incubation and start up process.”
Masiu said the National Information Communication Technology Authority and ICT department will work in consultation with the Micro Small and Medium Enterprise Council, the SME Corporation, and the Business Council to establish an ICT Incubation Centre next March.
