THE hosting of Apec 2018 has put Papua New Guinea on a higher level and this is evident in the organisation of venues and logistics for the senior officials’ meeting, says Apec Minister Justin Tkatchenko.
Tkatchenko who headed the Apec venue inspection yesterday said it was a stepping stone for PNG as it eyed bigger and better things in the future.
“As minister in charge of Apec, my job is more to support and assist the event management, logistics and security of Apec 2018,” he said.
“After being to Apec in Beijing, China and Da Nang in Vietnam, I want to say to Papua New Guineans, you should all be proud of the preparations and the set-up of all the facilities for Apec Som 1.
“This has set a new standard of workmanship and professionalism in hosting these Apec meetings; we’ve set the bar to another level and thanks to the Apec authority, policy and planning for everyone that has come together to make this happen.
“I’m totally satisfied that what will be achieved from these meetings will leave these delegates as ambassadors of PNG going back to their own countries and promoting how good we are,” Tkatchenko said.
He said the meetings were progressing well and the feedback from the delegates had been positive.
“Feel proud that you are doing a wonderful job of promoting our country and future visits and meetings to come after Apec,” he said.
“Apec is just a stepping stone for events and meetings into the future. Apec is the cream of the cake; it’s taking us to another level.”
