CULTURE could become a billion-kina industry, Prime Minister James Marape says.
Marape said Papua New Guinea had potential to market and sell cultural products and activities.
“Going into the future, this culture could be a billion-kina industry for us to showcase our cultural exhibition for markets, for education and for commerce,” he said.
Marape was speaking at the Native Arts and Fashion Academy (Nafa) night in Port Moresby over the weekend where he was attending the Kina Culture 90-minute documentary for Southern Highlands.
He said Papua New Guinea was like any other part of the world, but had the most diverse cultures than most countries as captured in the documentary. Marape said it showcased five to seven per cent of what the total PNG experience was.
He thanked the volunteers and the Big Rooster group who spent half a million kina in producing the documentary.
