PEOPLE’S Labour Party (PLP) leader and Madang Governor Sir Peter Yama says the next prime minister should be from Mamose.
“That is long overdue.
“The next prime minister for the 11th Parliament should come from Mamose region,” he added.
Yama said Mamose had the track record of running the country smoothly with unity as displayed by the late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare.
“All political parties in Mamose with their leaders must stand together to form the next Government and the chief executive officer of the country’s job has to come back to us,” he added.
Yama spoke in his party’s rally in Lae on Saturday to a huge crowd.
He also named some potential candidates for the PM’s post in the likes of PNG Party leader and Vanimo-Green MP Belden Namah, Aitape-Lumi MP and National Alliance Party leader Patrick Pruitch, Yangoru-Sausia MP Richard Maru and himself.
“Unfortunately for Morobe, the late Sam Basil was the horse for that post but he lost his life.
“However, you still have Luther Wenge as the potential for the PM’s post”. Yama told the crowd that gathered at Eriku Oval.
Former Morobe governor and PLP candidate for Morobe regional seat Wenge, in supporting Yama for Mamose region to take the PM’s seat in the next term of Parliament, said when the PM’s seat was occupied by the region, debts were settled and the country’s economy was set right.
“All party leaders in the Mamose region now have to come together after General Election 2022 and form the Government and the prime minister’s job has to be one of them.
“This is our time and Mamose must stand united,” Wenge said.
Yama also said the Government needed to produce quality human resources by educating the school dropouts and creating employment.
“There are more than one million unemployed youths that the Government needs to find means to have them employed,” he added.

Kua shows support for candidate

THE National Party (NP) has fielded 50 candidates nationwide to contest in General Election 2022 (GE22), its parliamentary leader Kerenga Kua says.
“Apart from Dei candidate John Balg Wamp, NP has three other candidates contesting seats in Western Highlands, Hagen, Mul-Baiyer and Tambul-Nebilyer.
“We are fielding that many candidates because we want to serve the people,” he added.
Kua spoke on Friday in Dei Kaunsel to announce his party’s candidates nationwide.
“The people need health, road, bridges and better education and that is not only their right, that is what they expect from a Government,” he added.
Kua said NP was one the pioneer political parties in the country and “we have to make sure to have the numbers after GE22.”
“Choosing a leader is not an easy task , the leader will lead the eight or nine million people in the next five years and NP had to go through the files and records of each candidate before allowing them to contest under the party’s banner,” he added.
Kua said NP was prepared to sacrifice to make and create changes.
