PM Marape wants citizens to repent, look forward to future

National
James Marape

PRIME Minister James Marape has called on the people to “say sorry for your past, present and look forward to the future”.
As the country prepares to celebrate National Repentance Day tomorrow, Marape said the day should be about repentance and forgiveness.
“As we take stock of the year so far, the situation does look bleak. Not only (PNG) but the whole world is facing the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
“Our country has faced many challenges but our God continues to oversee this country and what it is going through.
“It is time to think about what we offer in service to the country, to see what we can do for this nation and see what can be done to ensure this country continues its journey.” Marape explained the reason behind declaring PNG as a Christian nation.
He said people of other faiths should not be scared of the move.
“Everyone is entitled to practise their faith.
“It is a common cause. We individually belong to different tribes, cultures and customs.
“Christianity binds our nation together.
“And that binds our values and beliefs and Christian teachings.
“It is not to enforce Christianity (on others).
“The choice of worship if up to them. It is a freedom of choice.”

  • A truly important message from the head of state. Our only hope is in God. Fellow citizens, Educate ourselves, our kids, our families more with Godly principles.
The educated elite of this country must take the lead as it is the right thing to do and you know it down deep in your heart. You may have seen, and maybe aware of the present status our nation is in, not just economic or C19 but all areas of importance.
Let us govern our country, our villages, and homes with God’s grace and mercy and see how well we can manage through this trying times.

  • I think Mr James Marape should make sure his cabinet ministers are blameless and born-again Christians,
Make the change within and then start looking outward.
Otherwise it would the wolf with the sheep’s coat.
Do not ask what the people should do for the country, but rather ask yourself what you can do to restore trust in you and the government system by the people.

  • We repent on the 26th of August every year. That is when we say sorry to God for living sinful and corrupted lives during the last 364 days.
We must be serious and mean business with God when we talk about Repentance.
After we confess our sins, we must forsake all, and DON’T go back and repeat the same old corrupt practices again.
Then God will show mercy to us. Proverbs 28:13.
If we Only confess but, not Forsake, the process is Not complete and our sins will still remain with us.

  • Miracles will not happen. Let us work hard, sweat it out and receive blessings of your hard work. Many Papua New Guineans are being lazy and not working hard and expecting miracles to fall down from Heaven. God blesses those who works hard and not very hard working people and not very lazy people who always expects free hand outs and live on camble monies.
