PARLIAMENT will continue to change laws to best suit national interests, says Prime Minister James Marape.
Marape said Parliament was there to pass new laws and it would continue to do so.
“We have changed the law recently on the Mining Act and we will continue to change laws into the future if need be to preserve the interests of the country,” he said.
Opposition Leader Belden Namah had asked if the Government had followed due process in issuing the Porgera special mining lease to Kumul Mineral Holdings Limited.
“So far we have followed all the laws of this country to pass this law to give this license. Court has already made the ruling that we were in the right all along,” the prime minister said.
“Whoever feels that we have broken the law, including investors, you have all the right to go to court and there’s no one stopping you.”
