PM: Success depends on employee capacity

MANAGING capital is important to employers but managing employees is even a greater responsibility, Prime Minister James Marape says.
“The difference between success and failure of an employer is the efficiency, capacity and effectiveness of employees.
“And employers need to protect the rights of employees regardless of religion, gender, ability, disability, educational level or the range and structure of the placement of an employee,” he added.
Speaking at the launch of the country’s maiden National Employment Policy 2021 to 2031 by the Labour and Industrial Relations Department last week, Marape said the policy aimed to protect the rights of employees at their workplace.
“I hope the policy will ensure that the rule book is common and that the rights of all in the workplace are preserved. Employers must also have a plan to localise as many positions as possible,” he added.
