PRIME Minister James Marape says he has accepted an invitation from Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to attend the Pacific Islands Leaders Meeting (Palm 10) in Tokyo from July 16 to 18
The Prime Minister was personally hand-delivered the official invitation by special advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister, Hitotaka Ishihara in Port Moresby on Tuesday. Marape said he was looking forward to meeting Kishida.
He had discussions with the Japanese PM’s advisor about a bilateral meeting with Kishida on the margins of Palm 10.
Marape said he intended to initiate discussions with Kishida on Papua New Guinea opening up invitations to Japanese contractors to bid for the construction of the Papua LNG project.
Marape also wants to encourage Japanese clientele in PNG liquified natural gas, preferably in Papua LNG.
