THE Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee has thanked The National newspaper for supporting the annual Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge – a major fundraising activity for Team PNG to the Rio Olympics.
Chef de mission to the 2016 Rio Olympics Emma Waiwai and Team PNG athletes in Port Moresby yesterday received 350 golf T-shirts for the charity competition to be held in Port Moresby on May 20, and in Lae on June 3.
“We are grateful for the continuous support from The National newspaper and thank them for supporting the Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge to raise funds for Team PNG to the Rio Olympics,” Waiwai said.
The committee holds the golf competition as one of the major fundraising activities for Team PNG to international sporting events.
The newspaper is once again partnering with the committee to deliver the events, by providing the golf T-shirts for the participating teams upon registration.
Sales and marketing manager Veronica Marshall said The National was proud of the achievements of PNG athletes and delighted to be supporting them through the golf events.
“We wish Team PNG all the best in Rio and we encourage organisations to support our athletes by being part of this event,” Marshall said.
Organisations wishing to take part can contact Cedric Tei at the Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee office.
