LAE MP Loujaya Kouza says the ruling People’s National Congress should not entice Morobeans to fight against each other.

She was responding to Chief Secretary Sir Manasupe Zurenuoc’s meeting with Lord Mayor Koim Trilu Leahy and city manager Roy Kamen to discuss funding for the Lae City Authority next year. Kouza accused her former party of using Sir Manasupe, a Morobean himself.

Sir Manasupe said the LCA would begin operations next year, even though it was not allocated funding in the 2016 Budget.

Kouza said Leahy had been opposing the LCA concept right from the beginning but had now made a complete turnaround.

She said it was no secret that both Leahy and Kamen were planning to contest her seat in the 2017 general election.

“The fact that they are going to receive funding, and the fact that they are going to run against me in 2017, both of them or one of them, is obvious,” Kouza told The National.

“They’re going to cause Morobeans to fight against Morobeans and help themselves, while we are fighting against ourselves.

“My word on this is, good, bring it on, fund it for city manager and Lord Mayor. Fund it for them to do their whatever. “As far as I’m concerned, there’s no impartiality with Government funding.”

Sir Manasupe said Kouza was the ex-offio chairperson by virtue of being Lae MP. “Whether I’m an ex-officio, or whatever, the fact remains I’ve always been used as a rubber stamp,” Kouza said.
