PNG Air converts Dash 8-100 passenger aircraft to freighter

PNG Air has converted its Dash 8-100 passenger aircraft into a freighter to ensure bulk carriage around the country, chief commercial officer Paul Abbot says.
Abbot said the goal of PNG Air was to provide freight customers with a high quality and efficient service.
He said the freighter would help the airline to accomplish that goal.
“With its four-tonne uplift capacity, we are confident that bulk carriage around PNG is now a reality,” he said.
“Whether companies are looking to move fresh produce, oversize and bulky freight or simply commercial goods, the freighter offers a very cost effective and reliable option.”
Abbot said the Dash-8 passenger fleet still retained the ability to be configured to provide supplementary support for the freighter.
This provides even more options for freight companies and customers looking to move goods around the country.
The Dash 8-100 freighter is PNG Air’s first and it celebrated the introduction this week in Port Moresby.
The conversion work was performed under the direction of Australian aviation engineering specialist Five-Rings.
