DEPUTY Prime Minister John Rosso met with Australia’s ambassador for First Nations People Justin Mohamed in Port Moresby last week.
The two met while Mohamed was in the country to attend the World Indigenous Business Forum.
Rosso and Mohamed discussed various matters such as the exchange of aspirations for PNG and First Nations’ businesses.
They also discussed the perspectives on how to grow indigenous to indigenous commercial ties and trade between PNG and Australia.
The profound cultural and kinship ties between PNG and Australia’s First Nations communities in the Torres Strait was also brought to light and discussed.
Rosso and Mohamed shared the same sentiment that, “the rich tapestry of shared history, stories, and hopes is a testament to the enduring strength and resilience of the interconnected roots between our people.”
Mohamed also visited Lae, Morobe, and met with small-to-medium entrepreneurs at the indigenous artists hub, a business programme founded in 2020 and aimed at developing core skills including financial literacy, marketing, planning and budgeting.
Rosso and Mohamed look forward to an even brighter future of collaboration and understanding.
