THE Papua New Guinea Chamber of Resources and Energy (PNG Core) is organising a security summit to discuss its importance to the sector.
Chief operating officer Pansy Taueni-Sialis said the event signified the chamber’s efforts to address security challenges prevalent in project areas, and the country at large.
“The one-day event, which will take place in Port Moresby on April 17, will bring together the Government, state security agencies, industry project operators and security providers,” Taueni-Sialis said.
“As a peak body representing the mineral, petroleum and energy sectors, the security of our projects, and general law and order play a critical role in determining success.
“In recent months, the importance of security has been highlighted, especially through the unfortunate events of Jan 10, as well as the deteriorating law and order across the country.
“This also serves as a platform for stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue, share insights, and collaborate towards a deeper understanding of security dynamics at both local and broader levels.
“This will also be an opportunity for government, through agencies including the Royal PNG Constabulary to provide industry with an insight on where we can partner together for the benefit of our communities.”
