AN executive team from the education ministry in Papua New Guinea has expressed interest in the mainstreaming of the Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) education in schools in Fiji.

The team also expressed interest in exchanging or recruiting TVET teachers from Fiji to help facilitate the programmes in PNG.

Team leader Peter Kant said they found processes of a teacher’s registration and challenges in maintaining education staffing appointments interesting.

He was positive that future agreements between the two countries would be confirmed once the reports were presented to PNG’s education minister.

Education permanent secretary Dr Brij Lal said the PNG team had wanted to see how the education group was functioning and look at some of the initiatives that they could probably go and modify in their country.
