PNG Football Association yet to pay prize monies

THE PNG Football Association will pay outstanding prize monies for clubs who finished in the top four of the national leagues, says general secretary Gordon Manub.
Manub’s comments came after certain clubs who played in the finals of the Women’s Conference Soccer League and Premier Soccer League raised concerns over non-payment of prize money.
“The price monies will be given. Those are things that we’re already obligated to give so whenever we’re ready to do that, we will pay them,” Manub told The National.
“We (PNGFA) have just resumed work two weeks now after the festive season break, we know who we need to pay and how much we need to pay. That will be done when we’re ready.
“Teams are aware that we don’t get any support from the government and also we didn’t have any sponsors for the last season.
“Those are some of the challenges that we have but we are working towards making sure that we keep our obligations and pay everybody the price monies.”
Manub urged some of the clubs to repay their outstanding debts owed to PNGFA.
“Some of those teams too actually do owe us some money, so the responsible clubs must settle their bills for the obligations that PNGFA supported them during the season. What I’m not going to do is to pay them and then they offset whatever monies that was owed to PNGFA for supporting them,” Manub said.
“I’d like them to pay off their outstanding commitments before we disperse any prize monies.”
