THE men’s national football team will pit themselves against New Caledonia in Port Moresby next month.
Papua New Guinea Football Association technical manager Paul Isorua confirmed in a statement that the New Caledonians were coming well-prepared for their two international friendlies against PNG.
The national side did not play in the first Fifa window in March and Isorua is looking forward to their first competitive matches.
“We thank the New Caledonia Football Federation for accepting our invitation to play the friendlies with us in Port Moresby,” he said.
“The two matches are absolute bonuses and we’re looking forward to them.
“I know these two friendlies will be very helpful in our preparation for the Pacific Games in Samoa (in July).
The New Caledonian side arrive into the country on June 5 and play PNG on June 7 and June 9.
The friendlies will be very interesting as the two teams play entertaining football.
PNG coach Bob Morris said they had a side composed of the 2016 OFC Nations Cup squad, with a few young players.
Morris is set to have in his squad one of the best line-ups with Auckland City’s David Browne, Toti City pair Raymond Gunemba and Nigel Dabinyaba as well as Hamilton Wanderers forward Tommy Semmy and the Komolong brothers — Alwin and Felix — all expected to be available.
