PNG marine products join China exposition

THE National Fisheries Authority (NFA) has participated in a three-day China fisheries exposition which ended last Thursday.
The exposition comprised 500 different displays.
Many countries  came and attended the exposition.
PNG’s participation was through NFA which also took on board representatives of the PNG fishing industry.
The China exposition this year was held in Qingdao province .
The 2007 and last year’s exposition, which PNG also participated, were held in Dalian province.
These were the two major tourism attraction spots for China and for staging such expositions.
The PNG fishing industry participation was by Wamomo Seafood Ltd, Ailan Seafood Ltd and High Energy Co Ltd.
The product ranges were from fresh frozen lobsters, prawns (black tiger, headon and banana, headless), crab meat, reef fish, whole coconut crab, dried products of sea cucumber (beche-de-mer) and canned tuna.
NFA’s executive manager for provincial support and industry development Welete Wararu said during such expositions, there was usually active participation by the PNG Embassy in China and also at other expositions in other parts of the world.
She said PNG Embassy in China had been supportive for the last three years on the exposition.
She acknowledged John Momis, PNG’s ambassador to China, and the embassy staff for the support rendered.
