PNG Swimming Incorporated conducted a three-day coaches and technical officials clinic in Port Moresby from last Friday.
The clinic saw officials from Lae Amateur Swimming Club, Boroko Swimming Club, schools within Port Moresby and parents participating in theory sessions, and they are now undergoing the technical component training at the Oceania Swimming Championships.
Speaking on behalf of PNGSI was PNGSI president Elizabeth Wells who said Bank South Pacific had once again come through for the sport.
“BSP has made it possible for us to continue the Fina coach and technical officials education programme on an annual basis to clubs, schools and the general public to further upskill our officials and train new volunteers to provide the necessary training programmes for our athletes to improve and raise the bar for their progression and advancement in their sporting career.
“Being the 16th year of our partnership with BSP, PNGSI has certainly appreciated the funding support over the many years, helping us to grow and provide ongoing educational programmes, alongside Fina, for our coaches and technical officials to provide the necessary skills to produce training programmes and pathways for our athletes.” BSP presented its annual sponsorship of K80,000 to PNG Swimming Inc on June 14, making it possible to run the clinic and support upcoming events.
