PAPUA New Guineans must tap into the era of entrepreneurs by being creative and starting businesses by addressing issues common to PNG context.
“It is the era of the entrepreneurs, if you look around the world and the way that the economy is changing, entrepreneurs are really changing our economies, but not just economies, they are changing the social structures as well,” chief scientist and chief innovation officer at Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Dfat) Dr Sarah Pearson, said.
Pearson made the comments during a Tech Community Meet Up in Port Moresby facilitated by TechLab PNG on Tuesday.
She said business networking was important for business startups.
“Connectivity and the coming together of people to celebrate the success and the failures, the lessons learnt in one place is good.”
Pearson said she was responsible for leading, developing and scaling science and innovation practice and culture across Australia’s international development programmes.
The role encompasses supporting the growth of science and innovation-based economies for social and economic impact.
