THE Papua New Guinea Volleyball Federation (PNGVF) will commence its 2022 activities next month with beach volleyball competitions in the Southern region to go ahead.
PNGVF president Edward Aisi told The National yesterday that domestic competitions were still under the threat of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic with most games moved outdoors.
“Beach volleyball is starting up next month as well as some of our outdoor and indoor competitions but that will be subject to what the authorities say,” he said.
“We were mostly restricted to outdoor volleyball for most of last year and that will most likely be how competitions will be held.
“Due to most of the venues and activities being under watch, we have yet to finalise a calendar but we will be holding a meeting at the end of this month to see how our competitions can go ahead,” Aisi said.
Aisi said volleyball’s bi-annual national championships was under a cloud because of the pandemic and a proposal for regional championships would be decided later this year.
