PNGFA moves NSL deadlines forward

THE Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) has brought forward the deadline for National Soccer League (NSL) expressions of interest (EOI) to Friday.
This gives intending clubs four days to submit their EOI and pay the K10,000 non-refundable fee.
The deadline for the annual affiliation fee of K80,000 has also been brought forward from July 12 to May 28.
In the initial call for EOIs two weeks ago, PNGFA president John Kapi Natto said interested franchises must express their interest before May 28 and meet the annual K80,000 affiliation fee by July 12.
However, in a PNGFA statement yesterday, acting competitions director Roosje Suwae said clubs had until Friday to submit their EOI and May 28 to pay the affiliation fee.
“There are only 10 spots to be filled and any late submission of EOIs after the closing date will not be accepted,” she said.
Suwae said all EOIs must be accompanied with a receipt for the K10,000 payment which must be made to the account details provided on the form.
The competition shall be subject to Covid-19 protocols and control measures and will be played only in Lae and Port Moresby with the season expected to start on July 17.
Meanwhile, PNGFA said: “clubs without ownership conflict must be incorporated as a company and be registered with the Investment Promotion Authority.”
It said clubs must have “their own venue or demonstrate their ability to obtain one within three years”.
No comment had been made by PNGFA as to why the deadlines had been brought forward.
