The Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf Challenge has always been colourful, thanks to The National’s support.
The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) said in a statement that The National had been a long-time partner and great supporter of the organisation, and “they ensure that every team that participates in this annual event is well attired”.
The uniforms for this year’s event were presented to PNGOC yesterday in preparation for the first leg of the competition which is set for May 17 in Port Moresby.
The second leg of the tournament will be held in Lae on May 31.
PNGOC corporate manager Ian Leklek received the polo shirts from The National team at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club.
Leklek said the Prime Minister’s Golf Challenge was a worthy cause that raised much-needed funds for Team PNG.
Leklek called on all corporate entities and avid golfers to register and be part of the event.
“We are looking forward to seeing a competitive and enjoyable event this year while also promoting Team PNG and our goals for the Pacific Games in Samoa,” Leklek said.
Registration is now open and those who wish to participate can contact the PNGOC office for more information.
The tournament draws great support from the corporate community every year and the prime minister is the patron who on most occasions has participated himself.
Funds raised from this year’s event will go towards sending Team PNG to the 16th Pacific Games in July.
Team PNG’s vision for the Pacific Games is to create history by winning the event on foreign soil for the first time.
