PNG Ports Corporation Ltd (PNGPCL) chief executive officer, Stanley Alphonse, says Ahi and Labu landowners in Lae have nothing to fear about decisions and actions taken by him.

He said in a statement on Wednesday his actions had the approval of the PNGPCL board, were made in the best interests of the corporation’s business for the benefit of the nation as a whole.

“We understand the landowners’ concerns and have endeavoured to put their concerns to rest, both in meetings and correspondence, over the past month.

Alphonse said PNGPCL, under his leadership, “has always supported landowner participation and viewed the participation of landowners, as an integral part of our operations at all declared ports around the country.

“In the case of Lae, PNGPCL has always supported the landowners and will do continue to do so.”

Alphonse said he would cooperate fully with an independent investigation team to be appointed by the Independent Public Business Corporation (IPBC), to examine allegations made by Ahi and Labu landowners.
