LABOUR and Industrial Relations Registrar Helen Saleu says it will take her seven days to go through Papua New Guinea Teaching Association (PNGTA)’s audited financial results.
“PNGTA has at last, after numerous requests, submitted its first audit results since its formation. I will respond after studying the report,” she added.
PNGTA general-secretary David Numbaming said the report would give a clear understanding of how the association operated.
He said the books were audited by an external auditor for the years 2019, 2020 and 2021.
“We included the external auditor to give us a clear picture on how we have been operating and also to work with the registrar,” he added.
Vice-president Synell Ko’ou said it was vital to report to the Registrar what the association was doing.
“Just like other associations, we also operate other business apart from collecting the normal subscription to help look into their welfare.
“That included the teachers’ savings and loans society and welfare funds. This year, we will report from Jan 1 to Dec 31,” he added.
