ENGA police commander Joseph Tondop will not allow any form of compensation to be paid for wrongdoings and wants perpetrators to face the full force of the law.
He was speaking yesterday after locals at Porgera and Laiagam found two more dead bodies on Tuesday.
That brought the total number of deaths to eight.
Tondop gave 48 hours to those involved in the killing of innocent people at Aiyak village in Laiagam to surrender.
He said he would not allow compensation payment.
Tondop called on leaders to locate the perpetrators and hand them in to police. He said when people accepted compensation, they allowed the lawbreaker to walk away freely.
“There will be no compensation payment for killing and willful murder in Enga,” Tondop said.
“I will strictly enforce the law so that the culprits will be prosecuted accordingly to the law of justice.
“If we continue to support and pay compensation, the troublemakers will take advantage and continue to create problems everywhere.
“I am giving you, the leaders from Walin tribe and the seven council wards, 48 hours starting today (Wednesday) to surrender the suspects involved in Aiyak road ambush.”
Tondop also gave 48 hours to the Akol tribe in Ambum to surrender suspects involved in the killing of a grade 10 student at Lakuwi village, in Wabag recently.
He challenged community leaders and the public to ask themselves why areas like Lagaip, Porgera, Kandep and some parts of Wabag had trouble every day while other areas were peaceful.
Meanwhile, relatives of those killed sat on the road in protest, calling on police to arrest those responsible.
Tondop managed to talk them out of that and the road was cleared.
