Police beat me, shop owner claims

 POLICE are investigating a man’s claim he was assaulted by officers in Madang.

Samuel Uyam said during the early hours of Sept 22, five members of the Mobile Squad 15 walked into his small shop and damaged the front with an iron rod. They hit him with it. 

While on the ground he claimed he was kicked  and punched.

He lodged a complaint with police internal investigations section in Madang condemning the actions of the Bulolo police against locals in Basamuk, in the Rai Coast district.

Uyam visited The National office with a medical report confirming the injuries he suffered.

Divisional Commander Nema Mondiai said the internal investigation section would deal with the complaint.
