Police doing their best as work crippled after ‘only vehicle’ breaks down

THE Waigani police station in Port Moresby currently does not have any vehicle which is making it difficult for officers to attend to complains from the public.
Police station commander Jerry Yawa said the only vehicle they had broke down two months ago.
“We are doing our best to police our operations area with whatever resources we have and however we can after our shift vehicle went out of service for almost two months following some mechanical issues,” he said. Yawa said they were now using the station commander’s vehicle to attend to some complaints.
Officers from other stations are also assisting them.
He urged citizens to understand the situation the officers were in although they would continue to serve the community in whatever way they can.
“Despite this issue, we will not give excuses for no resources and logistics but we will make do with whatever we have to maintain the operation in our area,” Yawa said.
He thanked the other stations and police commanders for their assistance in sharing their vehicles to respond to some of the issues in the Waigani area.
