Police commissioner’s office not court room

Letters

THE police commissioner’s office is not a court room.
The office is, therefore, not required by law or mandated to vet on criminal charges against high-profile individuals.
The police commissioner is appointed by the National Executive Council and, therefore, can be subjected to political influences.
It is a very dangerous arrangement indeed.
The committal court should be the only proper place to establish a primary facie case for committal for the courts do deal with.
If there is malicious intent on the part of the police, let the courts decide on what should be done.
