Police directorate paying K3mil a year for office rent: Kramer

THE police internal affairs directorate has been paying K3 million a year in rent for their office, says Police Minister Bryan Kramer.
He told Parliament last week that Police Commissioner David Manning was looking into the matter and why they were hiring many cars.
“The IAD (internal affairs directorate) has been suppressed over the years and shut down. Because of that, Manning directed a change. But the Ombudsman Commission told him that he had no powers to do that,” Kramer said.
“It now has the highest rental building in the constabulary.”
He said even though Manning was trying to reform the constabulary, address disciplinary issues and police brutality, he faced a lot of resistance.
Kramer had been responding to questions by MPs regarding police brutality in their provinces and electorates.
He said police brutality and lack of discipline were ongoing issues.
“We are going to reform the constabulary but that reform will take time. There has been some progress but we are also dealing with human rights abuse, corruption, and officers stealing pensions, which is no easy job,” he said.
Kramer said there were arrests of rogue police officers and corrupt officials last year compared to the past five years.

  • Minister! You know what is wrong and and what is right for the Police Force. Do what needs be and make your Ministry a model and transparent ministry for all others to see.
Resistances faced is a clear indication of illegal activities going on that the team seeks to mask by disclaiming your authority. The RPNGC is in dire need of integrity and discipline! Turn it inside out!
In the likes of your organization, I believe The Defence Ministry has the same illicit activities in their oranization too but I believe it seems the Minister responsible is still lost in his slumber.
