Police investigate sea piracy

MILNE Bay police are investigating a sea piracy incident a week ago, resulting in three suspects being locked up, police say.
Provincial police commander Supt Peter Barkie told The National that the case was being investigated by the criminal investigation division (CID).
He said sea piracy was a major offence and police were still investigating.
Supt Barkie said the CID would have to obtain paper-work from the National Court for charges to be laid.
Meanwhile, in another incident, Supt Barkie said a gang leader and the driver of a PMV bus were arrested for break and enter at Hagita High School.
He said the incident happened at 2am on Friday, a group of men broke in and stole a safe.
Supt Barkie said the matter was reported to police who raided the area and arrested the gang leader. He said the PMV bus was impounded.
