POLICE in East New Britain (ENB) are working hard to investigate and monitor a sorcery-related incident.
They spent yesterday monitoring the situation.
ENB police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali said the incident occurred last Saturday night at Vunamurmur ward in the Raluana local level government of Kokopo.
According to police reports received yesterday, two families in the Vunamurmur ward were involved.
Chief Insp Tabali told The National that the situation got out of hand when two three-bedroom houses were burnt down.
Fighting continued yesterday morning.
“I have arranged with Raluana LLG president Tiolam Wawaga, who is also from the Vunamurmur ward, to organise and bring the two parties to the Kokopo Ralum police headquarters for mediation today,” Tabali said.
The Kokopo police response unit are still monitoring the situation.
No arrests have been made.
Police are investigating the burning of the two houses.
