WEST Sepik police commander Chief Insp Moses Ibsagi says that two policemen accused of providing a firearm and bullet to a villager to hunt wild game will be investigated.
“It’s a serious allegation against my men and they will be investigated,” Chief Insp Ibsagi said yesterday.
He said this after the Vanimo District Court fined Jonah Dunemis K700 for being in possession of a live bullet and a firearm.
Dunemis, 22 from Leitre village, Vanimo told the court that a policeman in charge of the armoury at the Vanimo Police Station sold the bullet to him for K50 while another policeman at the same police station lent him the firearm.
The court ordered that the accused policemen be arrested and charged for their involvement with Dunemis.
The court said the incident was serious and could have been an ongoing practice.
