A COUPLE is at large after the wife allegedly influenced her husband to kill his brother over a track leading to their garden in Northern, police commander Supt Michael Welly says.
Supt Welly said the husband allegedly killed his older brother last month after his wife complained to him that his brother had stopped her from going to their garden.
Supt Welly said yesterday that the wife had argued with her brother-in-law on Aug 28 after accusing him of blocking the track to the garden.
The husband was away at the time but, when he returned, she told him what the brother had done.
“The husband then confronted his elder brother and they fought,” Supt Welly said.
“However, their mother intervened and separated them and the husband left to talk with a village councillor.”
He said the wife then allegedly confronted the elder brother’s wife and argued with her which drew the brothers to the scene.
Supt Welly said the younger brother’s wife then allegedly shone the light from a torch light directly into his face temporarily blinding him giving her husband a chance to attack which he did.
He allegedly stabbed his brother in the chest with a knife killing him.
“The younger brother and his wife then went into hiding while the deceased was brought to the morgue at the Popondetta General Hospital.”
Welly said people from Hanau village along with their councillor were assisting police search for the couple who were believed to be hiding in a neighbouring village.
