THE recently announced general salary increase for public servants will not affect the police personnel, the secretary general of the Police Association (PA) said.
Clemence Kanau released this information in Port Moresby last week.
The salaries and allowances for the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) will remain unchanged until existing enterprise based agreement entered between the government, Police Department (PD) and PA in 2006 was reviewed.
This was based on the National Executive Council (NEC) directive, through decision 173/2004, to exempt RPNGC from any such general salaries and allowances increase in public service.
This NEC decision has mandated the PA and the RPNGC to determine its terms and conditions for all police personnel.
Pay and allowances and terms and conditions  in the force would be reviewed for the period of July 2006 to July 2008, and from July 2008 to this month, before the increase s are made.
