POLICE have recaptured another Bomana Prison fugitive in Port Moresby’s Gerehu on Saturday.
Correctional Services Commissioner Stephen Pokanis said Harry Rodney Haoda, 22, from Kairuku, Central, was the third escapee to be recaptured after 17 inmates broke out of prison on Aug 26.
Fourteen fugitives are still on the run.
He said Haoda was remanded in prison for armed robbery.
Last week, Patrick Gonopa surrendered to police at the Waigani Police Station.
But he was not part of the Aug 26 mass breakout.
“I truly appreciate the support and encouragement from families and close friends and also to the detainee who agreed to return to prison,” Comm Pokanis said.
“There is confidence that detainees are respecting our laws and our families.
“My plea to those on the run is to surrender as this gives a good positive report about themselves too.”
Still on the run are:
Nathan Epe, Berry Karulaka, Bonny Walken, Brian Darius, Honiara Amenai, Walter Able, Junior Paul, Max Meakoro Avia, Joel Tahar Ruana, Joseph Samuel, and Lalai Numai who are all remandees.
Charlton Eric and Russell Tom are convicted prisoners with Emax Goasa on death row.
