Police recapture one of 17 escapees from Bomana prison

POLICE have confirmed the recapture of one of 17 men who dashed for freedom from the Bomana prison five months ago.
He has been identified as Lalai Numai, who was jailed for rape and murder.
According to police sources, Numai is allegedly the man who cut the fencing of the prison and led out 16 men from the main compound.
The National Capital District/Central police command confirmed the capture of Numai at Sabusa by the Central criminal investigation detectives and Laloki police.
Numai’s capture brings to four escapees caught since the August breakout, 13 remain at large.
Central commander Supt John Midi commended his men for their achievement.
Still on the run are:
Remandees Nathan Epe, Berry Karulaka, Bonny Walken, Brian Darius, Honiara Amenai, Walter Able, Junior Paul, Max Meakoro Avia, Joel Tahar Ruana and Joseph Samuel; convicted prisoners Charlton Eric and Russell Tom and Emax Goasa who is on death row.
