Police recapture rapist who escaped from Bomana

A CONVICTED rapist and escapee was caught by Central police along the Hiritano Highway on Friday.
National Capital District/Central police commander assistant commissioner Anthony Wagambie Jr said the escapee, Karoa Movo, 28, was from Sarota village in Malalaua.
ACP Wagambie said Movo was serving a 15-year jail term when he broke out of the maximum security cell at Bomana prison at around 2pm on Oct 28.
He applauded the efforts of Central police and encouraged them to create dialogue and understanding with the vast Central community.
He said the constabulary, had limited resources but it could operate up to expectations if the community was willing to help and support them in the fight against crime.
ACP Wagambie said Movo was taken to the Bomana prison.
Meanwhile, a man accused of stealing a woman’s mobile phone in Port Moresby was arrested by Fox 205 unit with the help of the public on Monday.
Police statement said the phone was returned to its owner after the suspect was formally arrested and charged at Gerehu police station.
