POLICE have returned some properties stolen from the yacht belonging to Australian billionaire Kerry Stokes in Madang last week.

Madang acting station commander Sgt Steven Yalamu handed two cameras and a laptop to the captain of the yacht  Duncan McKay yesterday at the Madang Resort Marina.

Stokes and his family were planning a diving adventure in Madang but cancelled it when youths from the Bel area in Madang robbed the yacht in the early hours of Oct 3.

The yacht had arrived from Cairns two days before.

Community leaders and villagers of Bilia and Kranget Island worked hard to hand over the suspects and recover some stolen properties.

Yalamu returned an underwater camera and a normal SLR camera and a laptop.

He said three laptops and a watch were still missing.

Yalamu said two suspects, a 15-year-old boy and a 20-year-old ffrom Bilia and Mis villages surrendered to community leaders at Siar village on Tuesday.

Three suspects have now been arrested but the prime suspect is still at large, police said.
