Police station, house undergo repairs

THE Kandep Police Station and station commander’s house in Enga have undergone major repairs costing K100,000.
Kandep MP Alfred Manase told The National that it was one of the districts in Enga that experienced law and order issues and needed support police work.
“Police need a good station to stay and work and the commander posted to the district needs to sleep in a good house to carry out his duty,” he said.
“These two buildings have never been repaired for many years and the DDA (district development authority) has now given priority to the law and justice sector by rebuilding them.
“The DDA will continue to carry out maintenance work on police houses and other public servants’ houses, many of them had been built in the colonial days.”
Manase said the district was one of the least developed districts and suffered by law and order issues.
He said for public servants to stay and work in the district, better office buildings and houses were needed and the DDA was in the process of renovating them.
