POLICE have resolved the fight that erupted in Inauabui village, Mekeo, Central, during the second state of origin game last Sunday.
Central Police Commander Supt John Midi said the fight occurred around 9pm when Kairuku-Hiri MP Peter Isoaimo’s campaign team was driving through the village using the back road from Biotou village.
“All that could go wrong went wrong when the commotion happened, resulting in damages and disturbances in the village,” he said.
Midi said the extent of the damage was not known and investigations would continue to confirm that.
He said the incident was reported to police and members were deployed to attend to the matter.
“Police primary objective to calm down the situation, that has been achieved and investigations into verifying facts and figures around the matter would continue,” he said.
Midi said police appealed to those affected and the general population of Kairuku to leave the matter to them to handle. “We will handle the incident lawfully and people should not deviate as we approach the polling period.”
Midi said that polling was the main focus and people should know their duty and responsibility.
