Police treating death of toddler as suspicious

Lae News, Normal

A THREE-month-old child was pronounced dead on Monday at the Angau Memorial Hospital.
Police are treating the death as suspicious.
According to Lae Metropolitan Supt Nema Mondiai, the child was adopted by the younger brother of the biological father at birth, and the child, a male, was not looked after well by the adopted parents.
“Reports reaching police stated that there were allegations of child abuse by the adopted parents and it was decided that the boy be returned to the biological parents,” Supt Mondiai said.
When the child was returned, he was very sick so the parents took him to the hospital where he died.
Police are investigating.
They also reported that an elderly man, aged between 50 and 60, was found dead at Three Mile, Block Nine  in Lae.
According to Supt Mondiai, the man was attacked by three unknown men between 8am and 9am on Monday.
He said he had multiple wounds to his body when police found him.
