POLICE have urged the public and vehicle owners to take extra precautions when travelling through the Embara Bridge in Kokoda, Sohe, Northern because of frequent armed robberies and holdups reported at that location.
Acting Southern region police commander Asst Comm John Maru said recently five armed men held up a PMV (public motor vehicle) at the bridge taking K1,425 and other personal properties belonging to passengers.
Maru said the PMV was on its morning route at around 5.30am when the incident occurred.
He said no one was injured.
He said the matter had been reported to police and officers from the criminal and investigation division and they were investigating.
Maru said the bridges at Embara and Kumusi were frequent locations for hold-ups and cautioned the public and car owners to be wary when travelling through the area.
