POLICE have appealed to people from Biangai and Waria in Wau town to stop fighting and treasure peace and harmony.
“Stop fighting,” Morobe police commander Supt Alex N’Drasal said.
“This is not your town. It belongs to the people of Papua New Guinea.
“Respect the business community who are paying tax to the Government.”
Fighting between the two tribes was triggered last weekend over beer and it has brought businesses to a halt.
N’Drasal warned the Waria tribe to stop fighting and be prepared to return home while leaders of Biangai development corporation, who aided the settling of Waria people, to bring them back.
“These people have been causing a lot of law and order problems and causing disturbances to businesses houses,” he said.
N’Drasal said police would be conducting special operations to round up the troublemakers.
